AIAANDES Mission

American International Academy of the ANDES is committed to nurturing the gifts and talents of each child to become compassionate, globally minded, creative thinkers and problem solvers using individualized curricula that results in a lifelong love of learning, positive character traits, and both personal and academic growth for each student through Arts, Nature, Discovery, Exploration, and Sciences.

The Birth of AIAANDES

In 2015, a couple of expat kids were being tutored by an expat teacher. They wanted to be recognized as students at a school like other kids, but not just any school and not just any kids. Their school would be unique, it would recognize the international flavor of the community in which they live. It would promote creativity and problem solving. The natural surroundings would become their primary classroom. They would have a say in what they would learn. Their school would be small, personal, and like a family where nobody was excluded because of physical or learning differences. If they moved away, they could still be a part of the school community through online classes and keep their same friends and teachers. American International Academy of the ANDES was born!

We are an independent K-12 secular private online school registered in Colorado, U.S.A. We are focused on learning through Arts, Nature, Discovery, Exploration, and Sciences–ANDES. Our primary “campus” is virtual, connecting our students to one another through online discussion forums, projects, and live online classes.

Our face-to-face Enrichment Extension Programs are offered in South America through independent educators who are part of our ANDES Learning Network. We also have face-to-face programs in select locations in the U.S. Our online and face-to-face teachers are certified through the U.S.A., Europe, or South America. They are assisted by trained paraprofessionals and community volunteers.

North America and Beyond: Students in North America and around the world complete 100% of their coursework online and are supervised via online platforms where teachers closely monitor progress and students meet with an advising teacher and their classmates at least once a week. Students also have access to tutorials in core subjects and a selection of clubs and enrichment classes beyond their core studies.

South America: Through our ANDES Learning Network, students enrolled in our U.S. online school or homeschool can participate in regional field trips sponsored by our independent educators. Field trips and AIAANDES Co-op groups have offered non-academic courses such as Host Country Language and Culture, Art, Drama, Robotics, Leadership, Critical Thinking and Logic, Music and STEM. We are not registered as a school in any country except the U.S.A. Parents are responsible for determining if enrollment in a school outside their country is permissible and the legal requirements that must be met by the family.

Our Online Enrichment Program offers many courses to cater to the interests of students who join us online! From radio dramas to yearbook, physical education to logic, escape rooms to book clubs–we have something for almost everyone!
